Michael Schumacher

Michael Schumacher was born on the 3rd of January 1969 in Hürth, north Rhine-Westphalia. He was the youngest member at the Kerpen-Horrem karting club. At the age of six Schumacher won his first club karting championship. He obtained his karting license from Luxemburg at the age of 12 and in 1983 he obtained his German license as well. In 1982 he won the German Junior Kart Championship and from 1984 onwards he won several German as well as European kart championships. In 1988 he first participated in the German Formula Ford and Formula König series. With his first attempt in single-sear car racing he won the Formula König series the very same year.

In 1989 Michael Schumacher signed with Willi Weber’s Formula Three team. In 1990, funded by Willi Weber he won the German Formula Three series. He also won the Macau Grand Prix later the same year. By the end of 1990 he had joined the Mercedes Junior Racing Programme in the World Sports Prototype Championship. Michael Schumacher won the season finale at the 1990 World Sports-Car Championship season at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in a Sauber–Mercedes C11. He also finished fifth in the Driver’s Championship.

Michael Schumacher has been a legend throughout his Formula One career. His ability to produce fast laps at the most critical moments in a race has always singled him out. His first debut in Formula One was with the Jordan-Ford team at the Belgian grand prix, 1991. Schumacher was signed by Benetton-Ford and stuck with them till 1995. He joined Ferrari in 1996 and Mercedes in 2010. He finished third for Ferrari in 1996 itself and second in 1998, fifth in 1999, first consecutively for five years in a row from 2000 to 2004. However in 2014 march, he suffered a grievous brain injury in a skiing accident.
