SCHUMI BACKS MERCEDES

Seven time F1 world Champion Michael Schumacher has said that he is surprised by the improvement in form shown by Mercedes – the team he left at the end of last season to be replaced by Lewis Hamilton. Schumacher initially retired from the sport back in 2006 after several glorious years in which he managed to accomplish almost every report in the sport. After a few years in retirement, he returned to racing. This time it was with Mercedes, who were also making a return to the sport after several years on the sidelines.

The start did not work out well for both parties because Schumacher was unable to recreate his old magic. Coming to the end of his career, it appeared that he was not at his best. Mercedes spent a lot of money in trying to develop the car, but it was still a long way off despite having a great team. After the arrival of Hamilton, they have been gradually improving to the state of having won three races. Nico Rosberg has won two of the races. Schumacher has said that he did not have the strength to continue after three years at Mercedes.

He retired for the final time at the end of last season.

“Given where we finished last season, it’s a surprise where they are now. Honestly, I didn’t have the strength for it, the motivation and physical strength. These three years consumed so much energy that there would not have been enough left over to continue on the level at which I want to measure myself,” said the German. He has managed to create several reports in the sport, but his compatriot Sebastian Vettel appears to be closer to breaking some of them. Schumacher won a record five consecutive titles, while Vettel has three consecutive titles.
